EC stands for electrical conductivity, which refers to the ability of water to conduct electric current. In water quality monitoring, conductivity is one of the important indicators reflecting water quality. The higher the conductivity value of water, the better the conductivity, and the larger the TDS value in the water. The TDS value represents the content of dissolved impurities in the water. The larger the TDS value, the greater the impurity content in the water. On the contrary, the smaller the impurity content, the purer the water and the lower the conductivity.

It can be seen that conductivity plays a vital role in water quality monitoring. Testers can preliminarily determine the water quality by the size of the conductivity, and then adopt different water treatment solutions.

In order to monitor the conductivity value in water, we generally use industrial EC sensors, also called industrial conductivity sensors. As a professional monitoring instrument for measuring solution conductivity, industrial EC sensors are often used in the continuous monitoring of the conductivity value of aqueous solutions such as cross-section water quality, aquaculture, sewage treatment, environmental protection, pharmaceuticals, food and tap water.
