ORP, or oxidation-reduction potential, describes the macroscopic redox properties of all substances in water. As an important tool for measuring the ORP value of water, ORP sensors are widely used in environmental monitoring, water quality management, and industrial production.

The basic principle of ORP sensor is the potential measurement based on redox reaction. When two substances with different redox abilities undergo redox reaction on the electrode, a potential difference is generated, namely ORP value. This potential difference can be detected by the electrode system inside the sensor and converted into a readable electrical signal output.

The core components of ORP sensor are working electrode and reference electrode. The working electrode is usually made of precious metals (such as platinum or gold), which can participate in redox reaction and generate potential signal. The reference electrode provides a stable potential reference point for calibrating and measuring the potential of the working electrode. By measuring the potential difference between the working electrode and the reference electrode, the ORP value can be obtained.
